Lightroom
You have probably found this webpage through our book Lightroom for Aviation Photographers. The keyword lists below will provide you an easy method to get started with keywording your photos in Lightroom.
Keyword list 1 – example from book (civil).
Keyword list 2 – example from book (military).
Keyword list 3 – example from book (operator & type).
Military keywords – includes 38 countries and nearly 920+ military aircraft registrations.
How to install
To install a keyword list, first save the file onto your computer by right-clicking one of the download links and selecting ‘Save As’. Open up Lightroom, go to Metadata > Import Keywords and select the file. The keywords will now appear in the Library module’s Keyword List.
Before installing, you can preview any keyword list in an internet browser or text editor. You can download and install as many keyword lists as you like. Already existing keywords will not be overwritten or deleted. All keyword lists above, except keyword list 1 (for civil aviation), are compatible with each other.
How to add large numbers of keywords
You can easily create keyword lists outside Lightroom and import them into your existing keyword structure. It will work fine in Notepad, but Excel is even better. In the example file below, I have created an overview with all Hawk T2s in Excel which is compatible with all keyword lists. If you copy these words into an empty txt file (Notepad), and then import that file into Lightroom they will be integrated in the existing structure. Of course you can modify the data sheet by adding your own keywords.
